Tropical Fish Co. exists to connect passionate fishkeepers with rare and exceptional freshwater species, and to build a stronger aquarium community through transparency, education, and collaboration. We believe a great fish business should do more than sell fish, it should inspire, support, and grow the hobby we all love.
Tropical Fish Co. is an Iowa based boutique focused on quality, care, and community. We hand pick beautiful freshwater fish, condition and quarantine them, then share honest care advice so you can succeed. Our specialty list includes killifish, hillstream loaches, Japanese medaka, rare tetras, rare corydoras catfish, wild type bettas, and other unique oddballs that make the hobby exciting.

We write clear care pages, share practical tips, and answer real questions. Stable water beats perfect numbers, patience and good husbandry win most battles, and we will always tell you what has worked for us and for our customers.

We love captive breeding. We buy from responsible breeders, pay fair prices, and credit your work. We highlight breeder lines and stories wherever we can, including on product pages, social posts, and emails, so the people doing the work get seen and appreciated.

Clubs grow the hobby. We partner on talks and events, sponsor shows when we can, and provide gift cards or prizes. We also run affiliate style programs for clubs that help members save while supporting the organizations that teach and inspire.
Healthy fish, careful packing, clear communication. We ship early in the week, so boxes spend less time moving. If weather looks risky, we will pause and protect your order. We currently serve the lower 48 states, and we will always choose fish welfare first.
